Text sex

Debbie Cohen Manchester

Sex mad students are using text messages to flirt their way into bed and for sex games, a survey by studentmobiles.com has shown.

Students from 25 university campuses across the United Kingdom were surveyed about how the mobile phone figured in their sexual antics while away from home. Almost 80% of students interviewed said that they flirted with other students by text messaging them and a third said that they indulged in text sex.

Craig Downs, marketing director of studentmobiles.com, said, "University life is notorious for having fun and meeting new people--it's well documented that most people meet their future husbands or wives while at uni. Our sex survey was conducted to reveal just how much our customers were concentrating on the opposite sex rather than their studies--and how the mobile phone figured in their dating games."

But flirting is not just confined to fellow students. The study also showed that 47% would have sex with a member of the lecturing staff in return for a first class degree.
