Uganda Village Project

Please join our efforts to build a sustainable health and development initiative in the Iganga District of Uganda. As an IFMSA-USA initiative, we spend two months living in underserved villages and volunteering with local NGOs.Village leaders and activists have invited us to build protected wells and an orphanage, as well as to sustain these ongoing projects:

1) GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY EDUCATION: We provide a village-by-village approach to teaching HIV/AIDS Transmission/Prevention and Sanitation/Nutrition.
2) TRAIN-THE-TRAINER: We train community groups to become HIV/AIDS and Sanitation/Nutrition educators and distribute teaching materials.
3) ANTHROPOLOGY: We study the community needs and public health status within its cultural context.
4) HIV/SYPHILIS COUNSELLING AND TESTING: We work with a Ugandan NGO to provide testing where none is available.
5) MEDICAL SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION: We bring needed supplies to remote clinics.
6) FREE MEDICAL CLINIC: We provide free health care alongside Ugandan medical professionals and students.
