Manchester Gayfest

August bank holiday weekend saw the launch of the 11th Manchester Gayfest which attracted thousands of revellers, be they lesbian, gay, or straight, to the streets of Manchester's Gay Village. The festival began with the ever impressive drag parade and throughout the weekend bars and clubs in Manchester area kept their doors open to the partygoers. There was, however, a serious element to the festival. A frank health show was held, with comprehensive information about gay and lesbian health issues and an HIV and AIDS vigil remembering those affected by the disease.
