Ecstacy is low in league table of major causes of deaths

Both the Daily Mail and the BBC covered a story at the end of July, referring to the increase in deaths from ecstasy from 36 in 2000 to 56 in 2001. Above, the BMJ compares deaths from ecstasy with other causes of death in England and Wales in 2000. Smoking related deaths top the table, with an estimated 104000 deaths that year.
